Staying in the biz:  Former KNX LA City Hall reporter Claudia Peschuitta  is joining Pasadena's KPCC and LAist. She spent 15 years at the Audacy all-news outlet, plus general assignment work for KFWB and west coast correspondent for Fox News Radio.   Recovery ward:   KLOS morning co-host Heidi Hamilton  is recovering from bladder surgery to remove tumors. Heidi's wife Cris offered an update, stating Heidi is doing well but hating having to use a catheter while recovering. Hamilton has been a co-host on KLOS since 2012. She started as the traffic reporter for Jamie White , Frosty Stillwell  and Frank Kramer  on STAR 98.7 (KYSR) in 1998, then joining Stillwell and Kramer on KLSX in 2000. He was one of the original KHJ Boss Jocks, later known for producing Star Search and other TV shows.  Sam Riddle  died Monday at his Palm Desert home. 93khj.blogspot.com He was born on December 12, 1937 in Tarrant County, Texas, USA as Samuel Earl Riddle. After serving in the Air Force reserves, Riddle arrived at KRLA via Texas, Arizona, and KDEO-San Diego. He was at KFWB for two years before he was recruited to join the staff at KHJ, imploring listeners "from Hollywood a Go Go 'til 12 o'clock at night, Sam Riddle is the man to make your day end right!"  After five years at KHJ, Riddle worked at KDAY and KROQ before returning to KHJ in 1974.  To hear Sam Riddle was to listen to a DJ who was fast-talking and fun. laradio.com For many in the entertainment world, Riddle was known more for both hosting and producing TV shows. I recall a friend of mine who was a frequent business traveler. She used to state it was faster and easier to go to LAX and jump on a plane, instead of driving, for a meeting in San Diego. Needless to say, things have changed. Several news stories over the weekend referenced the changes in security procedures, let alone how politics have changed since 9-11. Nonetheless, thinking back 20 years ago was a reminder the real tragedy was the lives lost that day. I found a YouTube video of David Letterman's first broadcast after 9-11, it's worth a view.
